Membership Policy / Criteria
MEMBERSHIP POLICY OF THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL HYPNOTHERAPISTS INCORPORATED

The purpose of this Membership Policy is to set out the requirements and associated rights applicable to each category of membership of the New Zealand Association of Professional Hypnotherapists Incorporated (NZAPH).
This Policy is intended to supplement the criteria, rights, and obligations of Members set out in the Constitution.
This Policy may be reviewed and amended by the Management Committee from time to time.
Affiliate / Student Members
Criteria / Requirements
An individual who:
1.Has an interest in Hypnotherapy.
2.Is currently enrolled in a course accredited by the Association.
Membership Rights
1.Member rates for Association events and conferences.
2.Support from the Association.
3.Discounted Fees.
For the avoidance of doubt, an Affiliate/Student Member providing services to the public as part of their training must clearly disclose that they are a student in training.
Graduate Members
Criteria / Requirements
An individual who
1.Has completed a Hypnotherapy course of 600 hours or more.
2.Has completed a minimum of 60 hours of basic counselling/psychology processes.
3.Clinical Supervision. 12 monthly 1:1 clinical supervision sessions each year.
4.Completes CPD* of 20 hours per year.
5.First aid certification (Is recommended)
6.Has Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
7.Obtains a Police clearance.
Membership Rights
1.Participation in networking and discussion groups.
2.Peer Support.
3.May use the NZAPH logo (Clearly stating you’re a graduate member)
4.Inclusion in the online Hypnotherapist Directory.
5.Right to Vote.
Professional Members
Criteria / Requirements
An individual who.
1.Has completed 250 hours of clinical practice and a minimum of 12 months in practice.
2.Completes a minimum of 6 monthly 1:1 clinical supervision session each year.
3.Completes CPD of 30 hours per year.
4.First aid certification. (Highly recommended)
5.Has Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
6.Obtains a Police clearance.
Membership Rights
1.Participation in networking and discussion groups
2.Peer Support.
3.May use the NZAPH logo and/or the abbreviation “PMNZAPH” / “P.M.N.Z.A.P.H”
4.Inclusion in the online Therapist Register.
5.Right to Vote.
6.Eligible to stand for committee.
Registered Professional Members
Criteria / Requirements
An individual who.
1.Has completed 300 hours of clinical practice and a minimum of three (3) years in practice.
2.Has completed a minimum of 12 monthly 1:1 clinical supervision sessions each year for at least eighteen (18) months.
3.Undergoes ongoing clinical supervision.
4.Completes CPD of 30 hours per year.
5.Has a current first aid certification.
6.Has Indemnity and Public Liability insurance
7.Obtains a Police clearance.
Membership Rights
1.Participation in networking and discussion groups.
2.Peer support.
3.May use the NZAPH logo and/or the abbreviation “RPMNZAPH” / “R.P.M.N.Z.A.P.H”
4.Inclusion in the online Therapist Register.
5.Right to Vote.
6.Eligible to stand for committee
7.Eligible to be on the Board of Examiners.
NOTE : Upgrading to a Professional and Registered Professional member requires the above criteria to be met and also a Zoom meeting with the Examination Board.
Honorary Members
Criteria / Requirements
An individual who is not otherwise a member and who is granted Honorary Membership by special invitation of the Management Committee*.
*Ongoing eligibility for Honorary Membership shall be reviewed by the Management Committee annually.
Membership Rights
1.Eligible to speak at General Meetings with prior permission from the Chairperson.
2.No Fees.
3.Participate in Networking and discussion groups.
Honorary Life Members
Criteria / Requirements
1.A Member who is granted Honorary Life Membership by special invitation of the Management Committee.

If in practice as a hypnotherapist, the requirements applicable to a Professional Member will apply to an Honorary Life Member.
Note:
i.Honorary Life Membership is held for that Member’s lifetime.
ii.Honorary Life Members continue to be positively involved with the Association and promoting Hypnotherapy and the Association.
iii.For as long as an Honorary Life Member remains a Practicing Member, they must
a.Continue to meet the ongoing criteria for renewal of their Professional Membership in accordance with this Constitution.
b.Continue to be positively involved in the Association and promote Hypnotherapy as ratified at each AGM of the Association.

3.May use the NZAPH logo and/or the abbreviation “HLMNZAPH” / “H.L.M.N.Z.A.P.H”.
4.Right to Vote.
