About the event
With over 18 years’ experience as a full-time hypnotherapist, Garry is one of a small number in the UK to hold an MSc in Clinical Hypnotherapy, for which he carried out research into the effects of presurgical hypnosis on the recovery quality in breast cancer operations. Garry is contracted to a major UK NHS hospital for oncology-based hypnotherapeutic work, where he consults on a regular basis, in addition to practicing from within a local GP surgery. Garry is a regular presenter, worldwide, at conferences and conventions as well as presenting his own popular Hypno-Oncology masterclasses, both live and online.
Hypno-Oncology: Hypnotic Interventions for the Cancer Journey
This presentation will give an introduction to cancer and will guide practitioners through a patient’s cancer journey from initial diagnosis throughout their treatment path and beyond. Examining the latest scientific research and approaches, it will enable participants to identify how hypnosis can be used and to be able to formulate hypnotic approaches and interventions to assist those going through the journey both psychologically and physically. It will highlight the areas that can be ethically and successfully worked with, particularly within a clinical environment.
Advantages that hypnotherapy can bring to both the patient and the medical fraternity will be noted. Best practice techniques and approaches will be discussed, along with the importance of effective communication with both patient and clinical staff and the impact it can have on both.
Many 'real world' case histories will be given to demonstrate the real difference hypnotherapy can make in the patients journey and to give delegates confidence to become involved in this expanding and rewarding practice area.
